About Our Pastor

Reverend Julius Demps was born in Lawtey, Florida in 1946.  He is the 4th of 12 children.  He was educated through the Bradford and Nassau Counties Public School Systems of Florida.  Reverend Demps graduated from High School in 1964. He later continued his education at Central College Texas and earned an Associate Degree in General Education from Brevard Community College of Cocoa, Florida.  After a short career in the United States Marines, from 1966 – 1968, he met and married the lovely Jestine Patten.  They have two beautiful daughters Sharron Demps-Peters (Steve) and Tramesa Demps.  They have two grandchildren Kamera Sheree Goins-Museau (Jonathan) and Brodic Goins; and one great grandson Julius Museau.

After settling down with his family, Reverend Demps pursued a career in the United States Army from 1974 until his retirement in 1994.   Reverend Demps gave his life to the Lord back in 1984 at the 2 O’clock Gospel Hour service during Bible Study in Bitburg, Germany. This service was a group of military believers from the AME, Baptist and Pentecostal backgrounds all stationed in Bitburg, Germany.  He quickly became a lover of God’s Word and began to assist the Lead Facilitators in feeding the flock.  He received God’s call to preach the Gospel in 1990.  He was licensed in 1989 as a Minister. Reverend McMillan, Pastor of Bible Way Missionary Church of Copperas Cove, Texas, ordained him as a Reverend in 1991.  Reverend Demps served Reverend McMillan faithfully as an Usher Board Counselor and Sunday School Superintendent.  He later answered the United States Army’s call to go overseas again.  While in Stuttgart, Germany, Reverend Demps pastored three churches during this tour of duty.  Upon finishing his time in the military, he organized New Birth Christian Center of Melbourne, Florida in 1998.  Reverend Demps later served as an Associate Minister at Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, Melbourne, Florida.  He is sold out to the church’s vision, all souls are important to the house of God.  

Reverend Demps is a dynamic teacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he seeks the Lord for a tangible Word that would impact the lives of the hearers.   He is known for his ability to unlock simple and valuable truths hidden in the Gospels.  Throughout his life, Reverend Demps has overcome many challenges.   His ups and downs life experiences birthed a strong compassion to teach men how to be better men, husbands, and fathers.  His transparency has afforded him a chance to minister life to those who are broken.  He had a delivery contract with the United States Postal Service for twelve (12) years.  Reverend Demps is a classic testimony of “It’s Not Over Until God Says It’s Over”!  Together, he and his wife serve God as members of the Saint James Missionary Baptist Church Family.
